Limo bookings for proms max out; options available

Limousines are being booked with a fury for proms this year.
Advertiser library photo "For every day there's a prom we're pretty much sold out," said Kelly Dias, manager at Platinum Limousine. "It's like this every year. There aren't enough limos around the island to go around."
SUV-type models such as Hummers, Ford Excursions and Ford Expeditions are usually among the first to go, Dias said. Less-popular models may still be available.
With prom and wedding seasons colliding, it isn't a bad idea to reserve your prom limo as soon as possible (like now). Otherwise, consider these transportation alternatives from promadvice.com:
• Rent a convertible or luxury car. Rental policies vary when it comes to age requirements; you should consider asking a responsible older family member to play chauffeur for the evening. • If it's available in your area, a horse and carriage is ultra-romantic. • Decorate your own car or the family car with balloons and streamers (being careful not to obstruct the driver's view). Consider asking a brother or sister to be your chauffeur. • If you're going with a large group, rent a van, bus or trolley, and a driver, and show up en masse.
Places such as Duke's Limousine Inc., Luxury 1 Limousine and Platinum Limousine report a flurry of bookings March through May; April 9 and 23 prove to be the most popular dates, with nearly 10 O'ahu proms being held each night.
Duke's Limousine's 18-passenger SUV-type limo is a popular choice.
