Two Mexican citizens were arrested in a Waikiki hotel room Wednesday after they allegedly sold almost two pounds of crystal methamphetamine to an undercover police officer, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court yesterday.
Daniela Soledad Lopez-Meza and Gisela Judith Rochin-Gaxiola were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.
"It's highly doubtful these girls were acting on their own," said Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Inciong.
On Wednesday an undercover Honolulu police officer negotiated the purchase of crystal methamphetamine from a man known only as "Roberto," the complaint said.
"Roberto" told the officer to meet the two women in a room at the Waikiki Park Shore Hotel, according to the document. The officer arrested the women after they gave him two brick-shaped bundles in exchange for $40,000 the officer brought in a bag.
The bundles were opened and tested positive for methamphetamine.
