Police vehicular homicide investigator Lisa Reed said a 1983 Toyota Camry, traveling makai on Fort Barrette Road, crossed the center line and into the path of a Nissan Sentra at 4:40 p.m.

A 26-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, drivers of the Camry and Sentra, respectively, were taken to The Queen's Medical Center with critical injuries, said Reed. A boy, 13, who was a passenger in the Sentra, was also taken to Queen's with what appeared to be less serious injuries.

The impact forced the Sentra off the roadway and down an embankment.
