The bodies of two women believed to be in their 80s were discovered in a Kaimuki house this morning after firefighters put out a fire at the home.

Eight fire units responded to the two-alarm blaze at 3273-A Lincoln Ave. after the fire was reported about 3:45 a.m. Firefighters were at the scene four minutes later.

"They were told right away that there were two women in the back house, but they had to do a forcible entry and fight the fire to gain entry into the various rooms in the house," Fire Capt. Kenison Tejada said.

The fire was declared under control at 4:06 a.m. Tejada said one of the bodies was discovered in a bedroom of the single-story wooden home. The other was discovered near a door leading to the outside.

The house that burned was located at the rear of the lot. Relatives of the women live in the front house, Tejada said.

"The heaviest fire damage appeared to be in the living room and kitchen although there was some damage to the bedrooms as well," Tejada said. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimate had been prepared yet.
