Pool hall raided

Advertiser Staff

Police raided a Waipahu pool hall last night after an undercover investigators reported that the hall doubled as a gambling house.

Six men were arrested during the raid for a variety of offenses.

One man was arrested on suspicion of possession of gambling devices and another had a small amount of crystal methamphetamine on him, police said. The other four were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Officers with HPD's narcotics/vice division and District 3 Crime Reduction Unit served a search warrant at 7 p.m. at Waipahu Family Cue, 94-216 Farrington Highway.

Over an undisclosed period of time, undercover officers allege they entered the establishment and gambled on pinball machines.

Enough evidence was gathered to justify a search warrant, police said.

Officers seized $800 in cash, and several "turbo pinball machines" said Lt. Walter Ozeki, head of HPD's gambling detail.

The investigation began as a result of community complaints, Ozeki said.
