'Lost' to use state's sound stage

"Lost" is expanding.

Touchstone TV vice president for media relations Charissa Gilmore says the hit ABC series will rent the state's Diamond Head Studio sound stage for next season, while maintaining the sound stage at the old Xerox building on Nimitz Highway.

The Diamond Head Studio facility became available when Fox canceled "North Shore."

State Film Commissioner Donne Dawson said her office is helping to facilitate the transfer.

It's possible "Lost" could acquire some of the "North Shore" leftovers. "North Shore" producer Harry Bring has said he would offer "Lost" the use of his show's $1 million hotel-facade set before it is dismantled.

There's been no indication how "Lost" will use the Diamond Head sound stage.

The production has been using the Xerox sound stage this season to shoot scenes set in the main cave where the castaway characters live.
