Man's run with stolen car ends in hospital
Advertiser Staff
Police said a suspected car thief was taken by helicopter to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition yesterday after he drove off the road in Ma'ili.
At 12:48 a.m., the man, who police declined to identify, was speeding east on Pa'akea Road in a white Acura when he hit a dip in the road near 'Apana Street and careened onto the right shoulder.
The man, who was not wearing a seat belt, hit a utility pole and was ejected from the car.
A check of the vehicle revealed that it was stolen.
Police said speed was a factor in the crash, but it was unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role.
