Advertiser Staff

No excuses for using "bad hair day" as a way to skip today's advance screening of "Beauty Shop" at 7:30 p.m. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., the lobby of Signature's Dole Cannery Stadium 18 will double as a beauty shop, with stylists from Marsha Nadalin Salon & Day Spa on hand to give complimentary hair and makeup services.

"Beauty Shop," a spinoff of the popular "Barber Shop" movies, stars Queen Latifah (right, with Mena Suvari), Alicia Silverstone, Alfre Woddard, and Djimon Hounsou.

BOX OFFICE: 'Guess Who' is No. 1

The Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher comedy "Guess Who" debuted at No. 1 over the weekend with $21 million, according to studio estimates.

Sandra Bullock's sequel, "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous," opened in second place with $14.5 million for Friday to Sunday, bringing the movie's total to $17.6 million since it opened Thursday to get a head start on Easter weekend.

The Associated Press also reported "The Ring 2" slipped to third with $13.8 million, lifting its 10-day total to $58 million.
