PacWest honors UH-Hilo's Jackson

Hawai'i-Hilo's Lisa Jackson was named Pacific West Conference player of the week after leading the Vulcans to a sweep of Chaminade.

Jackson, a senior infielder from Fullerton, Calif., batted 5 for 7 in two games against the Silverswords with two homers, four runs scored and six RBIs.

Jackson is batting .380 and has scored 24 runs.

The Vulcans are 20-2 overall and 9-1 in the PacWest.



BYU-Hawai'i swept

Theresa Campbell batted 2 for 3 with a homer and four RBIs as Montana State-Billings beat Brigham Young-Hawai'i, 10-3, to complete a sweep yesterday at BYUH Field.

Joey Ehnes allowed three runs — one earned — in 6áÊinnings for Billings.

BYU-Hawai'i's Amanda Nino batted 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

In the second game, Billings scored a run in the top of the eighth to beat BYUH, 4-3.

The Vulcans' Sherri Howell and Nino each had two hits.

KAILUA 8, CASTLE 1

Kevin Matsumoto pitched a one-hitter as host Kailua beat Castle in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division game yesterday.

Kekoa Su'a and Kurt Sasaoka each drove in two runs for Kailua, which improved to 2-0.

Russell Sasaki and Trent Hamada combined on a two-hitter as the host Cougars beat the Tigers in an OIA East game yesterday.

Landon Ka'aua, Andy Uehara, Noel Okuma and Scott Uehara each drove in two runs for Kaiser, which improved to 2-0.
