Comic-deejay Paul Ogata just returned from gigs in Singapore and Hong Kong, appearing in tsunami-relief shows. "It went so well that talks are under way for a return trip this summer, with added stops in Tokyo, Beijing and Shanghai," Ogata said. In the meantime, he'll join Butch Bradley in a Laugh Factory gig at 8 p.m. April 8 (he's unable to perform at the 7:30 p.m. April 9 show, but will be at the 10 p.m. nightcap) at the Pikake Room of Blaisdell Center. Comedian Andy Bumatai had 'em in stitches recently at the Waikiki Lau Yee Chai restaurant, where PATCH (People Attentive to Children) held its annual dinner meeting. His small-kid-time stories (he's Wai'anae-bred) and his experiences as the dad of a teenager had the folks chuckling. Seems they want to include him as spirit-lifter next year, too.

Bumatai donated his time and talent. ...

Hapa has just finished 28 shows in a 32-day tour; and Flanagan spent his first day back in Hawai'i at Kalama Intermediate and 'Iao Elementary on Maui to interact with music students in a Maui Arts & Cultural Center Outreach Program that brings performers out into the community as part of their performance commitment at the MACC. ...

RANDOM NOTES: A number of NFL coaches and owners meeting at The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua recently flocked to Roy's Kahana Bar & Grill for a fix of Roy Yamaguchi's culinary magic. Among them were these head coaches: Joe Gibbs, Washington Redskins; Jim Hasslet, New Orleans Saints; Andy Reed, Philadelphia Eagles; and Jack Del Rio, Jacksonville Jaguars. Members of the New York Giants, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers also were represented. ...

And footballers gotta eat, and some "names" showed up at Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar in Kapalua — retired NFL players Troy Aikman (Dallas Cowboys) and Terrell Davis (Denver Broncos) and Oakland Raiders coach Norv Turner. And NFL Network anchor Rich Eisen (formerly of ESPN) proclaimed Sansei his "favorite restaurant in the world." ...

WHEE, THE PEOPLE: Life after winning the first-ever Hawaiian Grammy has been nothing but amazing for Charles Michael Brotman, who produced the winning slack-key guitar disc. He's been besieged with interviews from out-of-town media; and at noon Monday, Rep. Jerry Chang will honor Brotman in a legislative session. ...

Rachael Asebido of Kaleo O Kalani died last Wednesday at Queen's; services will be at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Mililani Downtown Mortuary. ...

Mai Tai Sing, who has been lured out of retirement, will prevail in a reunion of her former Trapperettes when the Trappers motif is revived tomorrow night at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, after a Swingtime in Hawai'i jazz fest concert in the Hyatt ballroom. If you were a Trappers regular in its heyday, you may want to renew ties with Christie Burton (from Los Angeles), Katie Johnson (Washington state), Jacci Buccieri (Oregon), Cheryl Lopes (Big Island) and more. For details, call Abe Weinstein at 941-9974. ...
