Tonight's Must-See

"Tru Calling" 7 p.m., Fox. After almost a year on the shelf, this first-rate series is finally back for its second season. (Keep in mind that it's a late change for Fox, which changes a lot.) When the first season ended, Tru (Eliza Dushku) and Jack (Jason Priestley) raced to reverse the death of her brother. The process inadvertently killed her brother. Tonight, her father moves to town, secretly meeting with Jack.

Of Local Note

"Merrie Monarch Festival," 6 p.m., KITV. The 42nd annual edition of the hula festival begins with the Miss Aloha Hula competition. Broadcast live from Hilo.

Of Note

"Left of the Dial," 6 p.m., HBO. After years of right-wing talk radio, the left-wing "Air America" network began. It had colorful stars — Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo — and big obstacles. This documentary follows the hectic start.

"Survivor: Palau," 7 p.m., CBS. After being banished to Wednesdays for two weeks by basketball, the show returns to Thursdays. Tonight, a ninth person will be voted off the island.

"Joey," 7 p.m., NBC. Here's a rerun of one of the show's funniest episodes. Joey has been warned by his boss (Lucy Liu) not to lust after his co-star — who plays his daughter on the TV series they're making. He ignores the advice. He also does a bad job of covering it up.

"The Apprentice," 8 p.m., NBC. The teams must create a new pizza and market it on the Manhattan sidewalks.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. A man seems to have been killed by a fireball while he was staring at the stars.

"Without a Trace," 9 p.m., CBS. A missing woman may be the victim of a hate crime.
