Advertiser Staff
The Second Annual Hawaii Historic Preservation Day Fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the state Capitol. Historic preservation organizations from around the state will have presentations placed around the third floor lanai and in conference rooms 325 and 329.
May is National Historic Preservation Month and May 8 through May 14 is National Historic Preservation Week.
Rep. Corinne Ching is organizing this event to help raise awareness of the importance of protecting our cultural resources in Hawai'i. "Preserving a sense of place is necessary for future generations to understand our core values and culture," she said. "When we take care of special and historic places, we have a sense of the past in order to plan the future. We have to know who we were if we're to know who we are and where we want to go."
HILO, Hawai'i Health issues for youth and the elderly will be the focus of the second Pulama I Ke Ola Healthcare Conference set for May 19 and 20 at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo.
