Officer thwarts purse snatching

A would-be purse snatcher was thwarted early this morning by a police officer who ran him down on foot and arrested him.Police said a 56-year-old woman was walking to a bus stop about 2:49 a.m. when a man approached her from behind near Kapi'olani Boulevard and Kaheka Street and grabbed her pursue.
The woman began to run after the man and was yelling for him to stop when a patrol officer noticed the commotion, pulled over and ran after then man.
After a brief foot chase, the officer caught up with the man, 27, and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree theft. The woman's purse was recovered intact, police said.
Man accused of assaulting officer
Charges of assaulting a law enforcement officer are pending against a 42-year-old Honolulu man who allegedly charged into a police officer late Saturday night in Waikiki after the officer had removed the man from a hotel property.
The officer had issued a trespass warning and had escorted the man off the property when the man began to stand in the street at the corner of Lili'uokalani and Koa avenues.
The officer then instructed the man to get out of the street due to traffic concerns. But instead of complying, the man rushed forward and knocked the uniformed police officer to the ground. He was arrested on suspicion of harassment, a misdemeanor, but was later booked for suspicion of second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, a felony.
Husband-wife altercation leads to arrest
A 29-year-old man was arrested about 1:45 p.m. Saturday after he allegedly assaulted his wife in a public bathroom stall in Wahiawa.
Police said the two had been arguing when the husband held his wife against her will and assaulted her.
Police were called and the husband was arrested for suspicion of abuse of a household or family member.
While he was being booked, police reported finding a glass pipe with drug residue in one of the man's pockets.
The suspect was also arrested on suspicion of second-degree terroristic threatening, possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs.
