ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Cut yourself some slack

Advertiser Staff

Seeking a healthier lifestyle is an inherently good thing, but seeking the perfect body is neither good nor helpful, says David Niven, author of "The 100 Simple Secrets of Healthy People: What Scientists Have Learned and How You Can Use it."

Niven says, "Perfection does not exist, because for every improvement we make, we can always think of something else that could be changed. Seek a healthy body that functions, not a perfect body fit for a display case."

Be a pod person

Learn how to grow your own sprouts as healthy raw snacks at a workshop presented by Beth Dover and Christopher Mills, educational directors of IKOH Gardens in Waimanalo, a sustainable working and teaching farm.

The workshop will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in Pauoa Valley. Each participant will receive a recipe and "how to" booklet. The fee is $10; $5 for students. For details: thehawaiigreenhouse@verizon.net or 524-8427.
