UH water polo's Novick, Roy honored by MPSF

University of Hawai'i's Beth Novick, a senior two-meter player, was named to the all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Water Polo first team and UH coach Michel Roy was named co-Coach of the Year, the conference announced today.

Novick, of Evergreen Park, Ill., scored 52 goals this season. She also was named to the MPSF first team last season.

Roy led the Rainbow Wahine to a 20-9 record and UH's first berth in the NCAA Tournament, which begins May 13 at Ann Arbor, Mich. He shared the MPSF coaching honor with UCLA's Adam Krikorian. UH finished fourth in the MPSF championship last weekend and received one of three at-large berths to the eight-team NCAA tournament.

Natalie Golda and Kelly Rulon of UCLA were named MPSF co-Players of the Year. UCLA's Emily Feher was the Goalie of the Year.

Hawai'i freshman utility Ifeke Van Belkum was named to the MPSF second team and freshman two-meter Monika Kruszona was named honorable mention. Van Belkum and Kruszona also were named to the MPSF All-Freshman team.
