QUICK BITES
Get order in for takeout brunch

Advertiser Staff

Most everyone goes out to brunch for Mother's Day, but Diamond Head Market & Grill, the gourmet takeout spot on Monsarrat, is doing a brunch to go. Last year, it was so popular they sold out, according to owner Kelvin Ro. For $160, you get a 10-course menu suitable for feeding eight people that includes main dishes of pasta, roast pork and salmon with crab remoulade, plus quiche, sushi, fruit, breads, salad, basmati rice and petit fours for dessert. Orders must be in by Friday and they're doing only 100 brunches this year. Orders: 732-0077.

We've heard from dozens of restaurants about their special Mother's Day plans. If you haven't made reservations for Sunday, though, get to it!

DOUBLE HAPPINESS: Chins to whip up something special

Leeann and Katie Chin, the mother-daughter hosts of PBS' "Double Happiness" Chinese-food cooking show, are in Honolulu to give a cooking demonstration at 11 a.m. today at the Sub-Zero/Wolf Showroom. (Honolulu-based First Daughter Mediaworks produces the TV show.)

Their cooking demonstration is fully reserved but, in celebration of the store's first anniversary, Sub-Zero/Wolf chef Carol Nardello will be preparing dishes from the Chins' book, "Everyday Chinese Cooking," at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, Monday and Tuesday. She's making Stir-Fried Chicken with Red Curry Sauce, Honey Barbecued Pork and Beef Chow Fun.

Reservations required: 597-1647.
