Chaminade will award degrees

Nearly 500 graduates will receive degrees Monday in Chaminade University's spring commencement ceremony at the Neal Blaisdell Arena.

The ceremonies will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. The arena will open at 6:15. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The ceremony will be televised live on Chaminade's Web site, www.chaminade.edu and on 'Olelo Channel 55.



Roosevelt plans a fund-raiser

The Roosevelt High School Project Graduation committee is offering a "Prime Rib To Go" fund-raiser, featuring an 8-ounce prime rib with baked potato, stir-fry vegetables and dessert. Cost is $13.

To obtain an order form, see www.rhsgrad06.com. Deadline for orders is June 7. Pickup will be on June 18, 4 to 6 p.m. at the school gym, 1120 Nehoa St.

Proceeds will benefit Roosevelt High School Project Graduation, a drug- and alcohol-free party providing a fun, safe graduation celebration for students.



Kainalu marking its 50th year

Kainalu Elementary School will celebrate its 50th anniversary from 8:30 to 11 a.m. tomorrow and again from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The morning event includes an unveiling of a mural made by schoolchildren, music by the Royal Hawaiian Band and opening of a time capsule from 25 years ago. Honored guests, former principals, teachers and students will attend.

In the evening, the school will host a concert with bands, hula halau, food and craft vendors. Admission is free.

Kainalu Elementary is at 165 Kaiholu St., Kailua.
