A 30-year-old Kalihi woman was arrested yesterday after a man said he paid a large amount of money for a rental unit that didn't exist.
The woman was booked on one count of second-degree theft and was in custody last night.
The 54-year-old man told police he gave a woman the money on March 15 to cover the rent of a East Honolulu home. When the man arrived to move into the unit a few days later, police said he found the house still under construction.
A 38-year-old man may face attempted murder and other charges following an April 28 incident in Liliha in which a man smashed several car windows with a machete and nearly ran over two people with a car. He was arrested yesterday.
Police said the suspect was caught trying to steal something from a car. He ran to another car, grabbed a machete and smashed the windows of two cars.
