AIDS Walk for Life registration

The Starbucks AIDS Walk for Life will be at 9 a.m. next Sunday at Kapi'olani Park. The event is the primary fund-raiser for the Life Foundation, Hawai'i's oldest and largest AIDS organization.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. Walkers can register as individuals or as teams. Online registration is available at www.aidswalkhawaii.org. Registration brochures are available at most Starbucks locations. For more information, call Cathy Purdy at 521-2437.

Walkers raise money by having friends and family sponsor them. They are welcome to carry banners or signs representing their group. More than 50 teams have already signed up.

Entertainment will be provided by Sonny Ching's Halau Na Mamo O Pu'unahulu and Olena Rubin, Miss Hawaii 2004.

The Life Foundation provides services to nearly 600 HIV-positive men, women and children while running a comprehensive HIV prevention program.



Council member to meet public

City Council member Barbara Marshall will host three community meetings, all at 7 p.m., on the following days and locations: May 23, 'Aikahi Elementary School Cafeteria, 281 Ilihau St., Kailua; June 28, Waimanalo Public and School Library, 41-1320 Kalaniana'ole Highway; and July 14, Kane'ohe Community & Senior Center, 45-613 Puohala St., Kane'ohe.
