ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
'Steve Zissou' for you?

Advertiser Staff

Are you a mere Wes Anderson fan, or are you an "I named my dog Klaus Daimler" Wes Anderson fan? The director's off-kilter tale "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou" is out on DVD. You're in the first group if you go for the $29.99 single-disc edition's commentary, deleted scenes and trailer. You're in the latter if the $32.99 double-disc edition's additional documentary, journal and 10 videos of Brazilian vocalist Seu Jorge doing David Bowie songs in Portuguese moves you.

Band trend turns Hawaiian

There are Lance Armstrong yellow bands to support cancer research, pink bands for breast cancer research, Army green bands to support our troops, and now there are Olelo bands, a Hawaiian version of the trend, to support the Honu Project/World Turtle Trust.

Sandy Moneymaker of Honolulu designed the silicone bands with 25 Island-oriented sayings. They sell for $2 at many retailers, including Honolua Surf Co. shops, Downing Hawai'i, Wet Hawai'i, Sea Life Park gift shop, all the Lamonts Resort shops and Hanalei Surf on Kaua'i.

FINAL WORD

"I think it's a little more real than people might be expecting. NBC has allowed us to leave in those uncomfortable pauses that I think are so important — it has to be awkward, kind of nails-on-a-chalkboard at times."

Steve Carell | star of the new mockumentary series "The Office."
