POLICE BEAT
Irate woman attacks pair

Advertiser Staff

A 45-year-old woman was being sought this morning in connection with an incident in Kailua Heights in which she allegedly tried to run down a 42-year-old man with her car and used her vehicle to smash into another car with a 39-year-old woman sitting behind the wheel.

The suspect is being sought on an attempted murder complaint.

Police said the man and a woman were sitting in the woman's parked car about 12:30 a.m. when the suspect drove up in her car and began to argue with them.

The suspect began to drive off but made a U-turn at the corner of Akuleana Place and Akumu Street. Police said the man had gotten out of the parked car and was in his garage when he saw the suspect speeding back toward the parked car. They said the man stepped into the path of the oncoming car in an effort to force the driver to slow down, but stepped out of the way as the car got closer.

The speeding car sideswiped the car in which the woman was still sitting, but the driver stopped after the collision, got out, went back to the parked car, used her fists to beat the woman who had remained in the parked car and finally got back in her own car and sped off.

Police this morning were looking for the suspect who they said is known to the two victims.

They said the man came home and found the two burglars leaving with items that belong to his family which had been taken from the house.

The suspect, who police said is an acquaintance of the girl, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault and was later released.

Park drug use alleged

Police arrested two Kaimuki men, ages 18 and 19, last night after they allegedly found the two using a "bong" or water pipe to smoke illegal drugs in a baseball dugout at a public park in Kahala.

Patrol officers were conducting a routine after-hours check of area parks about 10:50 p.m. when they came across the pair with the pipe and drugs sitting between them on a bench inside the dugout.

The two were arrested on suspicion of third-degree promotion of detrimental drugs. They were also arrested on suspicion of a firearms violation after officers found a concealed handgun on both men during a pat search that was being done in connection with the drug arrests.
