POLICE BEAT
Kaimuki rape reported

Advertiser Staff

Police are looking for a 17-year-old youth who allegedly raped a Kaimuki woman early yesterday morning.

The victim told police an intruder entered her apartment between 4 and 4:30 a.m. and sexually assaulted her.

The woman, whose age was not provided, was taken to Kapiolani Medical Center following the attack.

Man arrested in car theft

Police yesterday arrested a 24-year-old in connection with the April 19 theft of a car belonging to a Wahiawa man.

A police officer who is familiar with the suspect spotted him driving the stolen vehicle last month and ordered him to pull over. The suspect did so but got out and ran, eluding the officer.

Police caught up with the suspect yesterday, arrested him on a warrant on an unrelated matter and then arrested him on suspicion of car theft.

Horseback officers make arrest

Honolulu police officers on horseback arrested a 41-year-old man yesterday at Kailua Beach Park on suspicion of car theft.

The mounted officers noticed a suspicious car in a park parking lot about 10:30 a.m. and called the license plate in to police dispatchers who relayed that the plates had been stolen from a different car.

A check on the car's vehicle identification number show that the car, too, had been reported stolen.

The man who was behind the car's steering wheel when the police officers rode up was then arrested on suspicion of unauthorized use of the car, detaining stolen property and fraudulent use of a license plate.
