Tonight's Must-See

Tonight on KHNL News 8

KHNL News 8 meteorologist Sharie Shima is out and about on this Aloha Friday, it's part of our special report, "Friday Night Live." Plus, KHNL News 8's Lyle Galdeira takes you to a haven for saimin. It's this week's "Lucky you live Hawai'i."

"Elvis, by the Presleys," 7 p.m., CBS. Resonating through this film is a view of Elvis Presley as a man-child. His arrested development was charming and upsetting. Priscilla Presley describes a good-hearted guy who loved his mom's memory and showered his friends with gifts. He never grew up. At home, there was no sense of time; guys played all night, then took instant trips. Conflicts lingered. He hated drug users, yet constantly used prescription pills to beat his insomnia. He savored marriage and family, yet didn't hide his other romances. After their divorce, Priscilla says, he would show up unannounced. He'd talk for hours to his ex-wife and their daughter, Lisa Marie. When Presley did step on stage he was still a great talent. This special keeps reminding us of that. Weaved together are the memories (from Priscilla, her parents, Lisa Marie and a few others), some home movies and brief clips from stunning performances. Those alone make this worth seeing.

Of Note

"Enterprise" series finale, 4 and 5 p.m., UPN (KIKU). This network was launched with a "Star Trek" show ("Voyager") and has always had one on its fall schedule. Now that will end; "Enterprise," the fifth "Trek" series, is ending after four seasons. It's the first "Trek" spinoff to end prematurely. This finale has Peter Weller ("Robocop") as a villain who opposes a peaceful alliance. During the second hour, the story is viewed from 200 years later through Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Troi (Mirina Sirtis); they're from the terrific "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

"X-Men" (2000), 7 p.m., Fox. While two of his old castmates visit "Enterprise," Patrick Stewart — the captain on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" — is in this movie. He stars as Professor X, who leads a batch of mutant misfits. The stellar cast includes Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman and Ian McKellen.
