Punahou boys, Pac-Five girls repeat as ILH champions

Punahou's boys and Pac-Five's girls each won their second consecutive Interscholastic League of Honolulu judo championships yesterday at Kamehameha.

Punahou's boys amassed 151 points to finish ahead of Iolani (90) and Pac-Five (79). The standings are based on regular season dual-meet results and the individual championship results from yesterday's meet.

The Pac-Five girls had 95 points, followed by Punahou (86) and Iolani (85).

Punahou's boys champions were Scott Fujii (114 pounds), Daniel Chow (121), Brendan Whitt (132), Teddy Toyozaki (178), Koji Uenten (220) and Spencer Jim-On (275). Other champions were Iolani's Bryson Morita (108), Kelsey Kokubun (145), Duane Fukumoto (161) and Emmanuel Zibakalam (198).

Pac-Five's girls champions were Tabitha Lum (Maryknoll, 97 pounds), Alicia Huang (La Pietra, 106), Nikki Morin (La Pietra, 125). Other winners were Punahou's Kelly Hiranaka (81) and Kara Takasaki (139), Iolani's Kira Tamashiro (90), Kamehameha's Raena Campos (114), Danielle Espiritu (154), Kalei Kawa'a (172) and Hoku Nohara (220).

Pearl City, McKinley lead individual champs

In the O'ahu Interscholastic Association individual judo championships at Moanalua High School, the Pearl City boys won a team-high four weight classes: Seth Ching (145), Tommy Iinuma (171), Christian Pavo (178) and Ryan Bustamante (220).

Other winners were Castle's Randall Sato (108), Moanalua's Derron Maki (114), Mililani's Jerrik Feliciano (121) and Joshua Peacott-Ricardos (122), Leilehua's Brad Padua (198) and Kapolei's Philip Trani (275).

McKinley topped the girls with three champions: Ning Feng (97), Sachi Lopez (106) and Asami Kobata (172). Other winners were: Moanalua's Kimberley Miyamasu (90) and Danica Kamakana (125), Farrington's Tani Ader (114), Pearl City's Robin Travis (139) and Kelly Fujihara (154) and Kahuku's Kanoe Tani (220).

Kahuku's boys and Pearl City's girls won OIA team championships last week at 'Aiea.

The Hawai'i High School Athletic Association's judo state championships is Saturday at Cannon Activities Center in La'ie.
