Maui High withdraws from state baseball tourney

Advertiser Staff

Maui High withdrew today from this week's state high school baseball tournament after a school investigation found that the team used an ineligible player, Maui principal Randy Yamanuha said in a school press release.

The Sabers (13-4) forfeited seven of its 13 wins that the ineligible player had participated in, the release said. The school reported its findings to the Maui Interscholastic League and Hawai'i High School Athletic Association, which sponsors the state tournament.

Maui was scheduled to play Moanalua at 11:30 a.m. in Wednesday's opening round.
