Nanakuli fire contained

Advertiser Staff

A week-old brushfire that has consumed more than 2,200 acres at the back of Nanakuli Valley has been contained, fire officials said.

Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Kenison Tejada said crews contained the blaze late last night. He said four engines, two tankers, and HFD's Air One remain at the scene to monitor hot spots and to respond to any flare ups.

Tejada said the brushfire is one of the bigger fires the department has had to handle in recent years.
