Cockfight raided in Nanakuli

Two men, ages 31 and 43, were arrested in Nanakuli yesterday following a police raid of a cockfight.Police received a call about 9 a.m. from a tipster who said a chicken fight was in progress next to a car on Apu'upu'u Road and that one of the participants had a handgun.
Police arrived at the scene, spoke to a group of men standing next to the car and got consent to search the car.
The search turned up a handgun, a shotgun, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
The registered owner of the car and the man seen by witnesses holding the handgun earlier were both arrested on suspicion of failure to properly store a firearm, third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tutor arrested in student beating
The owner of an Ala Moana-area learning center was arrested yesterday for allegedly striking a 13-year-old boy student at the center with a metal broom handle two months ago because the boy was not doing his homework and got a bad report card at his regular school.
Police said the incident took place March 12 at the learning center and that they arrested the suspect about 8:30 a.m. yesterday. They said the boy suffered bruising to his buttocks and hamstring area as a result of the incident.
The center owner was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and was later released from custody pending further investigation.
Stolen handgun seized in arrest
A 21-year-old man was arrested early yesterday morning in Waikiki for suspicion of violating a weapons law.
Police were called to a Kalia Road address about 2:10 a.m. in response to a loud noise complaint. When they arrived, the officers found a crowd of people that appeared to be fighting. The crowd scattered as the officers approached.
Several people approached the officers and told them two men had just entered a white Cadillac and pointed a gun at them. The Cadillac was ordered to pull over and police found a semi-automatic handgun on the front passenger-side floor.
The passenger was arrested on suspicion of failing to properly store a firearm and was later booked for detaining stolen properly after police determined the gun had been reported stolen during a prior burglary.
