PRODUCT PUSHERS

More than half —Ê52 percent — of adults surveyed by Directions Research Inc. have purchased an item from a direct-mail offer. One in five have purchased an item from an unsolicited e-mail, while 15 percent have bought something from a telemarketer.

And what about infomercials? Thirty-five percent of adults have succumbed.
