Altered check leads to arrest

A 23-year-old woman was arrested yesterday for allegedly altering a check to make it payable to her for $200.

Police said a 56-year-old woman wrote the check in a much smaller amount to the younger woman on Nov. 29 to buy a birthday gift for the younger woman's daughter.

Police arrested the 23-year-old yesterday.



Molestation alleged

A 41-year-old Kalihi man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault.

A 13-year-old girl told investigators she was molested by the man, who is a family member, on several occasions between Feb. 1 and Saturday.



Bank robber sought

Police are looking for a man who robbed a Waipahu bank yesterday.

The man was described as about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with a dark complexion and wavy hair.

He allegedly passed a teller a note demanding money. An undisclosed amount was given to the man, who was last seen walking out of the bank.
