POLICE BEAT
Boy allegedly burned

Advertiser Staff

Police yesterday arrested a 32-year-old man in Kalihi after a 7-year-old boy told officials at Pu'uhale Elementary School that his mother's boyfriend had burned him twice.

The school contacted police who, in turn, notified Child Protective Services who took the boy into custody.

The boy told authorities he was burned twice on the right hip about 6 p.m. on Tuesday for "not listening.''

He was taken to Kaiser Permanente's Moanalua Medical Center where the doctor who treated the boy determined the burns were "superficial partial thickness burns."

Police have classified the incident as a second-degree assault.
