Advertiser Staff

Honolulu ranked as the fourth-most expensive place to live during the first quarter, according to the ACCRA Cost of Living Index released today. The list of 305 urban areas surveyed was headed by New York, San Francisco and San Jose, Calif.

Separately, Honolulu ranked second behind San Francisco as the most expensive place to buy Lipitor, a prescription drug used to lower cholesterol.

ACCRA, a nonprofit economic development research center, bases its index on the cost of consumer goods, excluding taxes and nonconsumer expenditures.
