Woman arrested in Waikiki crime spree

Police said a 41-year-old woman went on a mini-crime spree in Waikiki yesterday morning.The woman managed to obtain an electronic hotel key card issued to and the driver's license belonging to a woman from California who was staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, police said.
She used the license and key card to get a front desk clerk to tell her which room the card key would unlock and then went to the room and stole credit cards and other personal items belonging to the visitor from California, police said.
They said the suspect then used two of the stolen credit cards to buy items at two different Waikiki stores. One of the merchants became suspicious and called police who arrived to find the woman holding the items she purchased with the credit cards belonging to the California woman.
Police then arrested the suspect on suspicion of first-degree burglary, two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, two counts of second-degree forgery, two counts of ID theft, one count of second-degree theft and one count of third-degree theft.
Iwilei robbery reported
A 47-year-old man told police he was robbed early Sunday morning while he was sitting in front of the city morgue on Iwilei Road.
The robbery victim said two strangers approached him about 3:30 a.m. and demanded money. He said that when he refused, the two men began to punch and kick him.
Police said a bystander saw what was happening and intervened. One of the robbers ran away, but the man who intervened managed to detain one of the suspected robbers until police arrived.
The man who was detained was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery. No money was taken from the intended robbery victim who was treated at the scene by city paramedics for a cut on his forehead.
Sexual assault reported
A 39-year-old man was arrested early yesterday morning in connection with a sexual assault that allegedly took place on Friday.
A 20-year-old Alewa Heights woman told police the man, who is a family acquaintance, forced his way into her home, made her go with him to another location and assaulted her.
The suspect was arrested about 2:30 a.m. yesterday in Makiki for suspicion of first-degree sexual assault.
