Mayor Kim returns to work after hospital stay

Associated Press

Big island Mayor Harry Kim returned to work today, four days after he was hospitalized with chest pains.

"He's fine," his secretary said.

Kim felt poorly at the Civil Defense Agency headquarters Thursday morning and admitted himself to the Hilo Medical Center. He was then transferred to The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu for additional tests.

County Managing Director Dixie Kaetsu said Kim wanted to return to work Friday but doctors persuaded him to go to Queen's for observation.

"He felt some pressure in his chest, some discomfort," she said.

Last year, Kim underwent a medical procedure to relieve an arterial blockage.
