HawTel boosts DSL Net security

Hawaiian Telcom, the state's leading telecommunications provider, has joined with Santa Clara, Calif.-based McAfee Inc. to provide a free package of Internet security features for its residential digital subscriber line (DSL) customers.

McAfee is the market leader in intrusion prevention for Internet security for homes, businesses and government. All current and new Hawaiian Telcom residential DSL customers can choose to receive a suite of McAfee Internet security features, including anti-virus protection, firewall, spam and pop-up protection, parental controls, and spyware software. The package, a $69.99 value, is available for free to customers.

Existing Hawaiian Telcom DSL customers will be notified of the offer in the next few days via a letter telling how they can sign up online by July 15th. Current customers who do not receive a letter by the end of the month should call Hawaiian Telcom's sales office at 643-3456.



Starwood breaks ground on Maui

Starwood Vacation Ownership has broken ground on a Maui resort, the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas North.

The new beachfront resort will have 258 units. The first phase of the resort, which includes 128 units, a clubhouse, spa, restaurant, general store and kids' club, is expected to open in spring 2007.

The resort will be next to the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas, which will be completed next month. Starwood Vacation Ownership is a division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.



Aloha Airlines gets radio show

Sky Radio Network Inc., the world's largest provider of in-flight business and lifestyle programming, said it will produce a monthly radio program for Aloha Airlines, the first of which is to air in July.

The program will concentrate on businesses and attractions in Hawai'i, as well as general business, lifestyle and technology trends. David Chevalier of Blue Hawaiian Helicopter service was one of the Island interviewees chosen for the first show. Frank Kiger, president of the Kauai Coffee Co., also will be part of the inaugural program.
