HOMEGROWN REPORT
Eldredge reaps softball honors

By Leila Wai
Advertiser Staff Writer

California senior center fielder Kaleo Eldredge was named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Pacific Region first team and was a Pac-10 Conference second-team selection.

Eldredge, a 2001 Baldwin graduate, is hitting .323 with a .516 slugging percentage, six homers and 37 RBIs.

Cal advanced to the Super Regional round against Baylor in a best-of-three series Friday and Saturday.

The Bears beat Fresno State, 1-0, to capture the Region 2 title last Saturday after beating FSU, 3-1, earlier in the day to force a playoff. Eldredge's RBI double in the fifth gave Cal a 2-1 lead.

Cal defeated Long Beach State, 4-3, and BYU, 9-0 (five innings), Friday to advance from the losers' bracket.

Eldredge is Cal's first four-time all-conference selection since 1999-02 and first four-time all-region selection since 1992-95. She became Cal's career leader in runs (157) when she scored against BYU, and set the Bears' career hit by pitch mark at 18 Thursday against BYU.
