Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i-Manoa's Outreach College is presenting a series of "Elder Life" workshops for people caring for older family members and those who are looking ahead to their senior years.

The workshops will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays in June at Krauss Hall 012. Each workshop is $35.

"Creative Aging for a Creative Generation" is the topic of the workshop this Saturday with Deborah Jackson of Eldercare Hawai'i, who will share information on aging issues and choices. The June 11 workshop on "Elder Law" will feature Jim Pietsch, director of the Elder Law Program at UH's law school, who will discuss basic estate-planning, advance healthcare directives and related matters.

On June 18, "Putting Your Financial House in Order" will provide information on financial concerns such as long-term-care insurance, reverse mortgages and trusts by financial planner and author Doug Wilson. "Facing Death, Surviving Loss" will be the focus on June 25 with social worker George Osakoda.
