Three dead soldiers identified

Two 29th Brigade Combat Team soldiers who were killed Monday in Iraq have been identified by the Army as Sgt. Wilgene T. Lieto, 28, of and Spc. Derence W. Jack, 31. Both are from Saipan and were assigned to Company E, 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry.

The Department of Defense also identified Col. William W. Wood, 44, of Panama City, who died Oct. 27 in Baghdad when an improvised explosive device detonated near his position. Wood was a assigned to the Army's National Guard 1st Batallion, 184th Infantry Regiment in Modesto, Calif.

Lieto and Jack were killed while on patrol when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device. No other soldiers were injured.

A memorial service will be held in the post theater at LSA Anaconda on Nov. 5.
