Police arrested the suspect for suspicion of second-degree forgery. During a subsequent search, police reported finding a glass pipe containing a white powdery substance inside in the suspect's possession. He was then also arrested for suspicion of third-degree possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Radio 'posse' helps stop stolen car

A 24-year-old Waipahu man was arrested yesterday for suspicion of car theft about two hours after the incident was reported on KSSK radio.

A 34-year-old woman told police she heard her Scion sport utility vehicle start up and then ran outside her Mililani home to try to stop the car from being stolen, but could only watch as three men sped away in the vehicle.

Police said after the woman notified police, she contacted KSSK and asked for help from the station's "posse." KSSK broadcast details of the theft and a short time later, a listener reported seeing the car in Kapolei, police said.

At the same time, police issued an all points bulletin for the car and an officer saw the Scion traveling west on Farrington Highway near Kamokila Boulevard in Kapolei.

When police stopped the Scion its occupants jumped out and ran. After a brief foot chase, an officer was able to catch up with the driver and arrest him for suspicion of unlawful control of a motor vehicle.
