HILO, Hawai'i — Staff members from the W.M. Keck Observatory will offer an overview of the Mauna Kea observatories at the meeting of the Governor's West Hawai'i Council of Advisors on Wednesday.

The presentation at the Keck Observatory headquarters in Waimea will also include a discussion of how the state benefits from astronomy.

Susan Dursin of the League of Women Voters will make a presentation on the Fair Access Commission Bill, which would ensure public access to information, services and proceedings of state government.

The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. in the Hualalai Conference Room. The public is encouraged to attend and participate.

The council is responsible for providing Gov. Linda Lingle with a list of issues and goals that should be addressed by state government.

Anyone with special needs for participating in the meeting may call (808) 327-4953 for help.
