UH rallies to beat Utah State, clinches WAC title

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawaii women's volleyball team rallied to defeat Utah State to win its 10th consecutive Western Athletic Conference regular-season title today in Logan, Utah.

The scores were 31-29, 32-34, 24-30, 30-24, 15-7.

"We had our hands full," said UH coach Dave Shoji. "We didn't play all that bad. I gotta give them (Aggies) a lot of credit."

UH is 19-6 overall, 13-0 in the WAC. Utah is 17-10 and 9-4. It was UH's 119th consecutive victory against a WAC opponent.

Outside hitter Sarah Mason, the team's kill leader, re-injured her ankle in the first game and did not return.

UH plays again Saturday at San Jose State.
