Police have opened an attempted murder investigation in the case of a 63-year-old man who was found unconscious early yesterday morning on a sidewalk along Waiakamilo Road near Colburn Street in Kalihi.

Police said the man appeared to have injuries consistent with having been assaulted.

There were no witnesses to the incident, which police believe took place sometime prior to 2:20 a.m. The victim was taken to The Queen's Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition upon his arrival.

Man uses golf club in assault

An 'Ewa Beach man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly hit a family member in the head with a golf club.

Police said the suspect, 39, was arguing with a 21-year-old man, when he swung the golf club at the younger man hitting hit in the head.

No information on the extent of the victim's injuries, if any, was available.

The suspect left the scene but returned later. Other family members notified police who arrested the man for suspicion of second-degree assault.
