Advertiser Staff

The Hawaii Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for leases on a total of 14 lots ranging in size from 10 to 15 acres in the state's agricultural park system.

Twelve of the lots are in Pahoa on the Big Island, ranging from five to 25 acres. There is one lot available in Waianae and one in Kekaha, Kauai. Both are about 10 acres. The leases are for 45 years.

Applicants must meet a list of qualifications, including be a U.S. citizen who has lived in Hawaii for at least three years, or have been a permanent-status alien who has resided in Hawaii for at least five years. Applicants also must meet several criteria demonstrating their farming knowledge and experience.

The deadline for applications is Dec. 22. For more information, visit: http://www.hawaiiag.org/hdoa/arm_agparks.htm or call 973-9476 (Honolulu); 974-4140 (Big Island); 274-3069 (Maui).

Hawaii College of Pharmacy to auction equipment

The Hawaii College of Pharmacy, which closed earlier this year after questions arose about its accreditation, will sell its equipment Saturday at a public auction.

The equipment includes computers, plasma screens, office furniture, folding chairs and tables. The state Office of Consumer Protection sued the Kapolei school in August alleging that it improperly collected $7 million in tuition payments from 240 mostly out-of-state students.

The auction is being handled by McClain Auctions. For more information, visit http://www.McClainauctions.com or call 538-7227.
