Kaimuki man indicted in sexual assault of boy

An O'ahu grand jury today indicted a Kaimuki man on charges he sexually assaulted a 10-year-old boy over a two-month period this year.

Christopher Brainerd was charged with five counts of third-degree sexual assault and one count of failing to update information for the state's sex offender registry. Brainerd's bail was set at $50,000.

Brainerd is accused of assaulting a Kuhio Elementary School fifth-grader from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31. Third-degree sexual assault is a class C felony that carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
