Pearl City senior Shanna Vierra is among four high school players to sign letters of intent to play softball at the University of Hawai'i, the Rainbows announced.

Vierra was a second-team Advertiser All-State selection as an outfielder last season.

Joining her for the 2007 season are catcher Kanani Warren of Walnut (Calif.), second baseman/outfielder MaliaNoelle Kinauleialoha Moore of Fairfield (Calif.) and first baseman Amanda Tauali'i of North Torrance (Calif.).

Vierra was selected to the ASA Western "A" Nationals all-tournament team and plays for the Mililani Prep 18-under team. She batted .428 for Pearl City last season.

Warren batted .408 last season at Walnut. She was an all-league selection for the 2002-03 season, when she was named Rookie of the Year. She also was named best defensive catcher for the 2003-04 season. She also can play first base and third base.

Moore was her league's MVP last year, when she led the conference in batting (.500), home runs (4) and stolen bases (5). Her school has won three league titles.

Tauali'i was named her league's Most Improved Player in 2003 and Most Outstanding Player in 2004. She batted .488 with 43 RBIs last season.

Hawai'i-Hilo: Dana Lee, a senior infielder from Mililani High School, signed with the Vulcans. Lee batted .630 with 22 RBIs for the state champion Trojans last season and was named to The Advertiser's All-State first team.

East Carolina: Shortstop Kaui Tom and outfielder Charina Sumner of Kamehameha and first baseman Cristen Aona of Punahou each signed with the Pirates.

Aona was a first-team Advertiser All-State selection last season, and Tom made the first team as a sophomore outfielder. Sumner was an All-State second-team pick last season.
