Don't sweat over table setting

Putting together your Thanksgiving dinner table? Worried that the setting you've chosen won't measure up?

Food Network's design director Wendy Waxman offers a few tips on creating a festive tabletop:

  • If you don't have something, improvise. Not everything has to match.

  • Don't take it too seriously; your ideas will flow better.

  • If you think your idea for, say, a centerpiece, is too quirky, try it. Who doesn't need a break from the predictability of holiday decor?

    LEGO EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME

Wai'anae's Imagine Rigney lived up to his name during a national Lego competition.

To qualify, he built a futuristic town on "Pu'u O Hulu Kai mountain," using solar and wind energy. Imagine, 10, became one of five children selected from the United States and Canada to compete in the "LEGO Brick to the Future: 2055" Building Challenge, a timed championship build-off last weekend at Legoland in Carlsbad, Calif.

While Imagine's housing complex didn't earn the top prize at the finals, he called the trip "a dream come true."
