Rainbow Wahine win WAC tourney opener

Hawai'i defeated Boise State, 30-21, 30-22, 30-26, tonight to advance to the semifinals of the Western Athletic Conference women's volleyball tournament at Reno, Nev.

The Rainbow Wahine, ranked No. 9 in the nation, are 23-6 and will face host Nevada at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow Hawai'i time. The game will be televised live by K5.

Tara Hittle led UH with 16 kills against the Broncos. Setter Kanoe Kamana'o had 39 assists.

Boise State defeated Louisiana Tech, 35-33, 30-18, 31-29, in a play-in game earlier today. Nevada advanced with a 30-22, 36-34, 30-23 victory over Idaho.
