ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Serve turkey with a soundtrack

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Turkey. That's what's happening today. Turkey, family, football and little else.

So invite some friends and family, make some food and impress everyone with a dinner-table-ready Thanksgiving soundtrack you compile at iTunes. Download one or all 75 tracks from the digital music store's "Thanksgiving Weekend" iTunes Essentials mix.

The eclectic set list includes apropos songs of thanks, family and food from Adam Sandler, Tom Waits, Sly & The Family Stone, Thelonious Monk, Ella Fitzgerald, Massive Attack, Ray Charles and more. Get iTunes at www.apple.com/itunes.

THAT THANKSGIVING MEAL TAKES 30 MILES TO WALK OFF

Here's some food for thought that might help you avoid overindulgence today: A 160-pound person would have to run at a moderate pace for four hours, swim for five hours or walk 30 miles to burn off a 3,000-calorie Thanksgiving meal (not including snacks or wine/alcohol consumed during the day), according to Cedric X. Bryant, chief exercise physiologist at the American Council on Exercise.

FINAL WORD

"Enough mind. We tried mind for a long time, and what has it gotten us? You know, except for vaccinations."
