Bryan belting it out in revue

TWO'S COMPANY: John Bryan, recently in "South Pacific" at Paliku Theatre, has teamed with Tracy Yamamoto to do "Driving Miss Tracy," a revue with love songs and show tunes, which they'll perform tonight at Mid-Pacific Country Club, with future gigs at Pohai Nani and the Pacific Beach Hotel. Bryan also will be accompanist for the "Aladdin" show (at Disneyland) auditions, Dec. 11-12 at the Ballet Hawaii studios. He's willing to coach prospects, so call him at 295-2351. Bryan also will back up Jimmy Borges in a KHNL-8 appearance tomorrow morn to plug "A Merry Christmas With Nabors and Friends," and he'll front Natalie Cole's New Year's Eve show at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. ...

Li May Tang showcases "Broadway at the Shanghai Bistro" at 8 p.m. Sunday and again Dec. 4, 11 and 18 at her Discovery Bay restaurant. Pianist Don Conover and singer Rex Nockengust bring a cabaret flavor to the Bistro. ...

SIGHT 'EMS: D.L. Hughley, a funny dude, takes his steak seriously, so he dined at Ruth's Chris in Restaurant Row on Saturday night. ...

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa checked out the music at the Jazz Minds Arts & Cafe, telling club owner Young Yi that he loved the Jazz Perverts. Matthew Fox of "Lost" was in the night Noly Paa and Sherry Shaoling performed. Also stopping by — Jimmy Borges, Rich Crandall, Azure McCall, Keahi Conjugacion and the Honolulu Jazz Quartet. ...

Fox, Daniel Dae Kim and Dominic Monaghan of "Lost" are in People's sexiest men issue this week. ...

SHORTS OF SORTS: Jay Larrin's holiday show at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Leahi Room, Outrigger Waikiki, is nearly sold out. Tickets: $20, includes a light pupu buffet. Information: 371-2910. ...

Vanita Rae Smith, Army Community Theatre honcho, made a hasty trip to Missouri to be with her ailing mother; in Dallas, she learned that her mom had died — which explains her absence at the opening night of "Kismet" (Jo Pruden, box office manager, filled in). Smith returns for "Cats" auditions Monday. ...

"A Hawai'i Stars Christmas" is just out, coinciding with a 7 p.m. concert tomorrow in the Hawai'i Ballroom, at the Sheraton Waikiki hotel. The holiday sing-out includes the finale for the "Stars" TV show, taped for airing at 6:30 p.m. Sunday on KHON-2, though the champ will be named at 10 p.m. Saturday on the Channel 2 news. ...
