Rainbow Wahine in WAC volleyball final

The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team rallied to defeat host Nevada Friday and advance to Saturday's Western Athletic Conference championship.

The scores were 30-19, 22-30, 30-28, 33-31.

UH rallied from a 27-24 deficit in Game 4 and held off three game points by Nevada before rallying behind the hitting of senior Victoria Prince.

Prince had 18 kills, hitting .469. Jamie Houston had 12 kills and Tara hittle 10. Sarah Mason had 7 kills, hitting .578.

UH will play Utah State, which defeated New Mexico State, 24-30, 30-24, 27-30, 30-25, 15-13, in the other semifinal.

Saturday's championship starts at 3 p.m. and will be televised on OC16.

UH has won this tournament the last five times it has been played, going back to 1998. UH's winning streak over WAC opponents is now 124.
