TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"The Family Man" (2000), 7 p.m., NBC. Nicolas Cage plays a guy who has it all or — depending on what counts — has nothing. An investment broker with no emotional ties, he has a fancy sports car, a slick girlfriend and big money. Then he wakes up in an alternate life with a wife, kids, a noisy house and a so-so job at his father-in-law's tire business. That sounds cheesy, but it works well. A similar story scored for Lifetime with "Comfort and Joy"; this one is a big-screen movie, large and lush and very reminiscent of "It's a Wonderful Life."

OF NOTE

"The X's" debut, 6 p.m., Nickelodeon. Hidden in suburbia, this cartoon says, is a family of superspies. Here are the first three episodes.

"I Shouldn't Be Alive," 6 p.m., Discovery Channel. Here are three chapters of this series, which re-enacts real-life survival stories. In the first, a plane crash leaves a man in the Zimbabwe jungle with broken legs. In the second, kayakers off Washington state are pulled away into the ocean. The third is a rerun of the opener, with five people delivering a yacht from Maine to Florida. They end up on a dinghy, surrounded by sharks.

"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. Don't you hate it when you're just about to be married and the bitter ghost of the groom's previous wife shows up — in her wedding dress?

"Star Wars: Attack of the Clones" (2002), 7 p.m., Fox. Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) is a young man in transition. He's moving away from his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and falling for Sen. Padme Amidala (Natalie Portman).

"Hope & Faith," 8 p.m., ABC. A psychiatrist (Susan Sullivan) suggests that Faith find a diversion. She chooses to perform in a poetry slam.

"Hot Properties," 8:30 p.m., ABC. Hot-dressing Lola is challenged to spend some time dressing down.

"Holiday Gifts 2005," 9 p.m., HGTV. This special was taped at gift shows in New York and Los Angeles.

"Numb3rs," 9 p.m., CBS. Someone is tampering with over-the-counter drugs. So far, four people have been killed.
